It’s available to buy now and prices vary. That’s a shame, because it has the processing prowess and polish for a much more than a visual showcase. The handling is fine, though can be mastered quickly, but it’s the threadbare narrative that really lets the game down. Simply put, games like GT Sport, Project Cars 2.0 and Forza Horizon 4 are able to foster a sense of momentum throughout – whereas DiRT 5 gets monotonous pretty quickly. Not the rewarding experience you get from similarly upbeat titles like Need for Speed. I found myself skipping the narrative, selecting the next race, winning it and repeating until my eyes began to burn. Dirt 5 has found itself to be the sole racer in the next-gen lineup for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, with the genre renowned for showcasing the graphical horsepower of new. However, it’s clear this game caters towards very casual fans its career system is easy to dip into – but so shallow, it’s hard to enjoy for sustained periods. After a while though, even the graphics aren’t enough to keep you playing. The layouts of the tracks to go with them aren’t particularly memorable – it’s hard to have a favourite – but the graphics involved in them and the cars are truly impressive. ![]() What’s more, the cars can be customized, if you’re willing to fiddle with paints and decals – though not tuned mechanically.
